It is also known that Dromina won the North Cork JAHC in 1927 - the club colours at the time were red & white.

Indeed two years after that 1927 win Dromina and Newtownshandrum joined forces and were known as ‘Shandrum United’. At that time they trained in O’Gorman’s field in Corrough.

In 1931 this club disbanded and both went their separate ways. Two years later Dromina beat Newtown in the championship and in 1936 the sides met in the JAHC semi-final in Charleville with Newtown coming out on top by 7-4 to 4-1.

The present club was founded in late 1953 and adopted blue and gold as the club colours. Its first championship game was against Buttevant in March 1954.

Dromina took part In North Cork JBHC finals against Kildorrery in 1957 and Castletownroche in 1966 and both were contested unsuccessfully.

In the 1970s the '73 championship final was lost to Araglin but Dromina won the league final the same year vs Milford and retained it in '74 vs Ballygiblin.

1978 saw the arrival of the North Cork JBHC when Dromina defeated Ballyclough in Ballyhea.

The 1980s saw Dromina unsuccessfully contest North Cork JAHC finals vs Milford in '81, vs Fermoy in '87 and vs Kildorrery in '88. However, Dromina were league champions for both '87 and '88 defeating Clyda Rovers in both finals. In 1985 Dromina won the North Cork U21BHC - the same title was won again in 1992.

From 1966 to 1984 a very successful Juvenile Club was in existence under the name of St Bernards (Dromina / Newtown) and many underage titles were won including the County U14 hurling title in 1978.

In 1999 Dromina again reached the final losing to Fermoy but in 2000 they reversed the JAHC final result over Fermoy. In both years Dromina lost out to Ballinascarthy and Ballinhassig in the quarter-finals, the first one after a replay.

In 2001 and 2002 they again lost out in the JAHC finals to Charleville before coming good in 2003 with wins over Ballyhooly, Fermoy (after a replay) and beat Charleville in the semi-final. They then beat Ballygiblin in the final.
